Bethel Endowment Scholarships
Bethel Scholarship funds are made available through a special fund which resulted from the merger with St.
John’s Lutheran Church. Since the fund was established, the interest from it has enabled us to serve young
adults and others within the Congregation seeking post-secondary or higher education towards a degree or a
trade.
Purpose and Scholarship Criteria
The purpose of the Bethel Lutheran Endowment St. John’s Scholarship is to provide assistance for higher education to an actively involved member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Examples of church involvement include regular church attendance, participation with Vacation Bible School (VBS), choir and special music, youth group, confirmation and acolyting, Sunday school, and general church outreach events such as the Harvest Festival. The scholarship amount will be determined by interest earned on funds in the Bethel Endowment St. John’s Scholarship Fund. The one-time scholarship may be sent to the school towards
tuition or given to the recipient directly for other costs associated with education.
Applicants will be evaluated by the Bethel Endowment Committee.
Awards will be based on the following considerations in addition to the items required in the application packet:
- Grade Point Average (Minimum 2.5)
- Church Involvement (see above for explanation)
